Family Travel in Egypt
More and more families are vacationing together in Egypt, and that means bringing along children of all ages. Egypt is a very child-friendly place that offers adults and children alike a wealth of things to see and do. For a memorable and enjoyable trip, it is important to involve everyone when planning your itinerary. Don't just assume that each member of your family has the same expectations and level of desire to travel in Egypt. This goes for your children as well as your spouse. A certain level of understanding is in order and there must be an allowance for a mix of activities.
Your husband might find his time better spent playing on a championship golf course in the shadows of the Pyramids, while you poke through all the treasure-filled stalls of the souk. For children, there are swimming & beach activities, zoos, camel & horse rides, and amusement parks. Older children like to get out on their own to the discos, internet cafes, and art centers. Children of all ages love belly dancing shows and traditional entertainment.
With a little creativity, easily bored young people can have fun visiting temples and museums. Many bookstores stock a variety of childrens' books on Egyptology so that your children can relate to what they're seeing. For picky eaters or a familiar taste, there is McDonalds, Pizza Hut, TGI Fridays, or even the Hard Rock Cafe.
It is great to travel with family friends, especially if the families have children around the same age. This is not only great for the children, but also for the adults as it takes away some of their pressures to entertain.
Children dehydrate much faster than adults so it is very important to drink lots of liquids including coke and sprite. Sunscreen, hats and sunglasses are a must for all members of your family. Seat belts are non-existent on public transportation and if you are renting a car you must specify that you require seatbelts in the back seats.
So, no matter what age your children are, as a family, you will make a few discoveries along the way.
Fall is coming! Things to look forward to are cooler temperatures, tourist high-season, lower electricity bills, and having more energy to get out and do stuff.
